In January`s issue of "What Video & TV" the LG was received and given a "Best Buy" award.

I was considering the LG but, with no VCD or macro disabled and no review of the LG to see, I went for the Mico.

Yeah...wonder how big the Reviewer`s "back hander" was though...?

You will be sorry not going for the LG or Aiwa, that is if you are after good qual pictures and sound.... on the other hand if you just want Macro off then anything will do, cos i aint found any player worth having with the macro off. I use the Letropacks Macro disabler and that way i can choose from any DVD machine i want. and it works video to video and Sky Movies and Ondigital etc etc

Whether he had a back hander or not, you can take it from me that this is a good player, but you already know that jimbo i would recomend this model to anyone and the aiwa for the money they are faultless.

WRONG! I know for a fact that Briley and I are happy with the MiCO as it will do more than the Aiwa and costs less than the LG.
True that some of you have had bad experiences with the MiCO, but doesnt that extend to all other players (even recent s***achi 505s).

As I`ve said many times before:-

Mine dont munch DVDs and the infinitesimally miniscule grain (where`s my magnifying glass) is vastly superior to the massive PIXELATION of the 4/10 picture from s***achi.

All I can say to you IronNuts, is get in the line for the Hitachi 505 recalll.

Great news about the award. Does anyone have any other award info for the 3350 as I am going to to an awards page. So far I have:

"Best Buy", ?/10, "Great looks, performance and price", What Video & TV, January 2001
"Best Picture", 90%, "Stylish Design. with great AV performance, Very fine indeed", DVD Shopper, November/December 2000

And Daz, I know the LG is a good player, essentially the Aiwa is a cut-down LG with VCD playback.
All I was doing was having a go at magazine rating systems...who can remember the Amstrad UF20 VCR getting the "Best Buy" award about 9 years ago?....and what a crock that was!!
