RGB / Scart question for DVD `tard
if a DVD played has a RGB Scart socket, can this be plugged into a TV that just has a regular Scart socket?
If so, with what cable?
RE: RGB / Scart question for DVD `tard
Generally with DVD players you can tell the player which signal to output from the SCART socket, be it RGB, S-VIDEO or, perish the thought, composite.
Check your telly manual to see if your TV SCART socket really isn`t RGB or S-VIDEO enabled.
If it`s either, best to get a decent SCART lead (try http://www.beyondhifi.com - that`s the third plug I`ve given them today, pardon the pun) rather than one that drops out of the box - i.e. gold plated, oxygen-free cable, fully shielded, fully switched.

Clayts,
"that`s the third plug I`ve given them today"
Ouch!!!!

I tried looking for a cable on that site just, but cant find one as yet. Any help here?

Not sure, but I would have thought Maplins would do them. Alternatively, you can get the likes of Ixios or QED from most good Home Cinema Dealers/TV Shops, but they ain`t cheap.

Can`t give you a direct link but go to the Quick Search facility at the top - pull down the menu to SCART and then go into the left hand option (i.e. NOT the budget but the professional range). The product at the top (SCART-SCART) starts at £7 for an 0.8m lead (OK if your telly is close to your DVD), £9 for a 1.5m and something else for a longer one.
After postage the 1.5m lead comes to £11.98 and they deliver in 2/3 days. And it`s blue too!!!

Which makes you wonder how the hell Ixios and QED get away with charging the prices they do.
Methinks I will investigate this site as well.
Thanks, Clayts.
