Not sure about the Macrovision disable but the Wharfedale 750s is about the best budget player you can get that is remote-hackable to multi-region.

Sarah - best thing to do is browse the site and see what`s current : check out the Hardware Forum and you`ll see what`s hot and what`s not !
Similarly, check the press (eg Home Entertainment, Home Cinema Choice, Total DVD, Ultimate DVD etc) When you`ve got all enthusiastic about what to buy then come here and see the player you fancy knocked into touch.
