Problem With a Samsung 709

rlenglet (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 20th December 1999, 07:45

Hello,

I bought a DVD Samsung 709 in France (Zone 2).
I have a remote control AIWA RC-T503.
I can convert my player to a multiregion for one disc only.
The hack for convert this player permanently does not function.

Why ?
Could you help me for this.

Thank you.

Which part of the permanent hack doesn`t work? Can you change the parental lock fine?

Take a look at the DVD Reviewer Multi Region Hack page which has info on the Samsung 709 and your remote control....

http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/samsung709.asp

Apparently it says to enable the hack with your remote control press Shift-Random

Yes I can change the parental lock.

But when I switch on the Samsung once again, he can`t read the disc R1.

(stage 7)

I am beginning to wonder if there are some minor differences between Samsungs sold in France and the UK. I know that Richer Sounds models in the past sourced from France were rumoured to not be hackable, but this was some time ago.

however I carry out the same thing stage by stage

I don`t understand.

May be I forgot a little thing in the hack operations.

I don`t know.

On the bright side the temporary hack works for you at least. But I am at a loss as to what to suggest to make it permanent. You may be following the instructions wrongly (due to language differences) but it could just as easily be something which effects French sourced machines.

I daren`t hesitate a guess at which one it would be for sure. ;-)

I don`t think that the problem is necessarily a "French" one, as I have the same problem, and I bought mine from Comet in Edinburgh...

I have successfully tried the `AIWA` remote hack but when I try and make it permanaent I cannot get the machine to ask me for the Parental lock ??? I have tried it with about 15 DVD films but I can`t see how none of them are compatible with the parental lock mechanism ?
Anybody have any ideas, e - mail me at 27yksuM[at]moc.oohay, I also need to know where I can get an AIWA remote, I don`t really want to pay £50 for a topline !!!
