Without one word of a lie, I was going to ask this forum if it was common for the DVD`s purchased out of shops (namely Woolworths) to be badly scratched or/and have finger marks on them.
The reason I was asking was that, out of the five DVD`s I had received for presents at Xmas, four of them were in a shocking condition as described above. When returning them to the store, I found the replacement copies were just as bad.
After reading the previous post, I`ve came to the conclusion that it`s twats like Shaun returning their discs to the store after months of owning them that`s the problem. Why buy films that after one or two months you want to take back?..........whats the point?
Sorry that my first point on this forum had to criticise another forum user, but after the hassel I`ve had in returning discs to the store, I`m not in the best of moods. Doesn`t Shaun realise that it could be users of this forum that ends up buying his "second-hand" discs that he has no forther need for?

Well they are to thick to see your point, and when the BEAR posted a one worded message they erased it, they dont want to upset the little thieves. They will all be whinging again in a few weeks about the price of DVDS, and they wonder why. w***ERS!

Hi Neil and welcome to the forum.

On your point of scratched discs from retailers such as woolies i would look to the stores and their handling of the disc`s in the first place. They are all stored behind the counter in crappy cases and when there`s a rush on they rummage through to get the disc they want pull it out and slap it in the case.

I for one keep ANY disc i own in mint condition and cleaned the two i returned and i bet they were in better condition than the brand new ones in the shop.

You could argue that if you want your disc`s to be in pristine condition buy em from a retailer that seals the covers such as virgin.

As for bears comment on the price of DVD`s ..when are you gonna realise the retailer never loses..they certainly dont price there discs on the amount of returns they get..and if they were that worried they would ask for proof of purchase with the return like thier competitors such as WH Smiths. but no they dont care cos they gave me vouchers which i spent in their store anyway.

To finish there` s plenty of people here who have bought the odd film on the fly thinking it would be better than it actually is and later had second thoughts and would like the opportunity to change it ..all i did was let them know of a way where they could ..it dos`nt make them thieves or w***ers or even twats just a few guys who want value for thier hard earned cash.

and dont worry about having a pop at me after all it would`nt be a forum if there was only one view.

AIWA 370 Rocks!!!

BTW i think John Robert Sheppard deleted your original comment because it was an uneducated rebuke with no justification behind it it whatsoever.

He probably do`snt want HIS forum bought down to the football terrace mentality you seem to attempt (badly) to grace us with.

Probaly wants His forum to encourge thieves , and scum like you then!

If you want to see a film before buying it,then try renting them, but then again what video shop would want you as a customer, and your still a w***er.

Shaun you are that poor you go to KFC to lick other peoples fingers.

Hi Neil

I read your message with interest and have some comments.

After working in Woolworths for a considerable amount of time I can relate to your problem.

They do get a lot of people bringing back DVD`s for a refund and it does get annoying. I agree that people should only buy DVD`s if they want to keep them, if they only want to watch the film there are places to hire DVD`s!!!

As for the comment I read later by Shaun about the way staff treat the DVD`s it`s the public`s fault. If we could trust people to pay for things they wanted we would be able to put them on the shelves.

I know for a fact that in VShop, if a CD comes back scratched and the person says "it doesn`t work", rather than "I don`t want it", we`ll simply mark it as faulty and send it to our faulties warehouse, where I believe it gets sent back to the supplier.

Obviously we only do this with receipts...

It`s an interesting point though - I know at VShop we`ll accept most saleable condition items back without receipts, as long as we have that item in stock at that moment in time, or have done very recently. Obviously with DVDs VShop tend to stock quite a large range of R2 titles, so you can usually get away with it.

It`s the guys that come back with some obscure VHS title that get foiled...

Dan.
