Michael Owen is a gambler - front page news ?

W@yne (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 19th January 2003, 19:30

From todays sunday mirror I see that mr Owen has lost £ 2 million by gambling , ok it is news but worthy of dominating page 1, 2 , 3 , 4 & 5 ? I think not , they must be really hard pushed to find stories to write about for this to take up so much of the print and the fuss it makes about the fact that he placed a £ 800 bet for a race running during England v Portugal , so he lost £26,000 in one day does this make him any less a player ?.

Keep this up and they will be down by 1 on their sales figures.

Sorry about the duplicate thread the other one was not up when I started this and got called away while typing it out so by the time I posted it the other similar thread was up

It`s all sooo boring; why knock one of the best players in the UK just because he made a bet with the money HE earnt. I don`t really care about the whole thing, and it`s a crap paper anyway. lol!

The sunday Mirror ==> We`re going to have the complete opposite opinion of everyone else on the planet just so we can try to pretend we`re not a tabloid anymore.

It`s the same with the Mail. They tried to suggest that the National Lottery was funding Bin Laden so don`t buy a ticket.

What a load of crap these papers are, most of the stuff in them can`t really be classed as a story. Who is really interested if Cliff Richard buys a new car?

Football clubs in the lower diversion could do with the money he as gambled, why not put somthing back into football instead of the bookies pocket.

It aint so much the gambling it`s more the obscene amount certain footballers get paid for kicking a football.

Fireman want 30K a year and we moan, becks and go get about 40 to 50k a week after tax and then there is all the other little earners like sponsers ..ect
