Finsbury Park Mosque Raid

kywy (Elite) posted this on Monday, 20th January 2003, 19:47

Although appearing to be acting on solid intelligence this raid is I believe a tactical mistake.
As is freely admitted, if the vast majority of worshipers are decent innocent muslims, and only a few are responsible for whatever is found, then surely since every religion has it`s share of extremists, searches must apply to not just every Mosque in the U.K. but to every Catholic and Protestant church and Orange Hall in N.Ireland and every Masonic temple in Britain.

I agree in principle. Having said that, none of the other religions have been unfortunate enough to have a few of their own extremists smash planes into huge buildings in the world most powerful nation. Or indeed making ricin. Agree its a shame that decent muslims have to put up with those people giving their faith a bad name.

Yes indeed....as George Bush would never slaughter people believing God..or indeed, JEEEEEHSUS!!! was on his side....as far as the atheist`s view goes there isn`t much difference...I think Christians have the same problem....could you ever imagine you`d believe in something strongly enough to fly a passenger jet into a building??

You are quite right Rich, some of our Home Grown groups have not done certain things that other extremist groups have done.
Having said that those fun lovin` guys of the Ira and the Loyalist mobs have managed to kill over 3,000 in the last 30 odd years.
Glass houses , stones and all that eh.

whilst i cannot condone anything that any of the so called religious groups have done, in the present or the past, people have to understand that a religious/fundamentalist war cannot ever be won (that is if you can ever win a war!), these people will fight to the death...

another point to remember is that "one mans terrorist, is another mans freedom fighter`...

The plain truth is, given the current situation all over the world, houses of prayer should not be seen as safe havens for Potential terrorists. (Whatever faith, or house of worship)

The police assured the mosque leaders throughout the operation this morning that they would show respect. and they did.

Marksparks99
"One mans terrorist etc" is one of the phrases most often used by murderers in a vain attempt to justify their actions.
The Real IRA
The Provo`s
The Continuity IRA
The Greek Novemer 17
Bader Meinhof 70`s
Rot Aktion Front 70`s
Symbionese Liberation Army
Loyalist Paramilitary groups.
ETA
All guilty of murdering innocent people. None could be seen as "Freedom Fighters" by any stretch of the imagination.
The only organisation able to call themselves "Freedom Fighters" may be the ANC. Classed as terrorist group by the S.A. regime but ultimately rose to power and replaced the apartheid government of S.A.

as i said i don`t condone any of their actions, `after all i swore an oath of allegience for the queen and her government` so that you can sleep safe in your bed at night!

funnily enough, I`ve said something about protecting `the sovereign, her heirs, and successors` in a previous life (well, 9 years ago)
