RE: Yay! It's half term...
*open ex-teacher mode* End of term, surely? Half-term was a while back. *close ex-teacher mode*
RE: UK air polution hits high levels today
It's almost certainly the cause of the 'hayfever' that's blown my head off over the last few days.
RE: Builders/Plasterers advice needed
Cheers mate. Agree personal recommendations are the best, so I'm hunting for those too, but always good to check other sites. Just read some reviews of ratedpeople..and they're not necessarily that good. Will check checkatrade though!
Builders/Plasterers advice needed
Evening all :-)
Have been having some rather nasty water ingress through the walls and over the windows in me front rooms.
Cutting a long story shortish, I'm three floors up (top floor) of the 1930s block of flats and the building's only clad in a single 9 inch brick. The managing agents are holding back as to whether they're responsible for the upkeep and protection of the brickwork and have even had the cheek to say that because of the unusual stormy weather (which has been fairly standard for this time of year in SE London) that there may not be anything they can do. However, I can't really hold my breath for them to make any sort of decision (48 flats in the block and everyone has a slightly different lease) before they take any sort of action and need some fairly drastic work done inside pretty sharpish.
So, basically..does anyone know any experts in stripping-back-plaster-before-re-rendering-inside-walls-with-proper-insulation-that-will-most-likely-involve-replacing-the-windows-as-well?..in my general area (Lewisham).or if not, has anyone had the same sort of issues with managing agents and am I likely to get some money off their insurance to help pay for the work?
Also, has anyone had any experience of ratedpeople.com?
etc
Apologies about the huge post, but thanks for reading...if you did. Getting a bit desperate :-(
RE: I'm going to hospital today
Thinking of you smurfy!!...
..may threaten to come and play me fiddle to cheer you up...however, it often has the reverse effect.
Xxx
RE: [VIDEO] RE: Question for Tithers or music buffs
ah..ok. Read your own reply after I posted :-)
RE: [VIDEO] RE: Question for Tithers or music buffs
hmm...saw it myself, and recognised a lot of the music but can't remember for the life of me what they used in that particular bit. Will try to catch it on iPlayer later on tonight to see what it may have been :-)

RE: New family member
Good lad! Congratulations to you all :-)
RE: A big thank you to Tithers.
Ha!
You`re too kind, Doc! Was great drinking copious amounts with yourself and Lou too :-)
(good Enigma joke btw...may use it myself at some point :p)
And yes Mark, Devon is happening as usual. Last three weeks of August. Will be in touch!
RE: The Gay Marriage poll!
um..no it isn`t (for fairly obvious reasons), no we don`t (reasons as before) no it didn`t (ditto), and no there isn`t - unless you really think it`s some sort of persecution, although obviously nothing like the persecution politically-motivated religious movements though the centuries - `Christianity` being a major player here - have deliberately forced onto others, thereby becoming a `dominant` force in politics today.
And it may be me, but the constant references to Sodom and Gomorrah make me wonder whether there isn`t some sort of latent thrill in imagining what infernal acts take place upon various posteriors when those of a homosexual bent get together. Best go and have a cold shower and a good long think about whether this is really going to affect your life at all. I`m willing to bet a whole pound that, if your blood pressure doesn`t go through the roof a-la various Tom & Jerry type cartoons, it doesn`t.
RE: The Gay Marriage poll!
So did mine. Will think more kindly of her as I walk past her apparently permanently shut mini-office just by my flat.
RE: Today my gran was 100
Good for her! Happy late birthday :-)
(I`ll be 100 in 51 and a bit years by the way, so get your thinking caps on for appropriate pressies! )
RE: Ravi Shankar - RIP
He was a guest performer in my Devon excursion of 2003. Had the honour of chatting to him a few times and played in his concert (shoes off of course). Very gentle and talented man.
RE: A mildly cautious happy announcement.
Ah mate..very sad news. I`m so sorry :-(
RE: 7 Degrees of Kevin Bacon... Google style
ha!...I like :-)
it seems he is even connected to one of the first `established` film stars, who was famous in 1909..
- Florence Lawrence`s Bacon number is 4
Florence Lawrence and Matthew Moore appeared in Unto the Third Generation.
Matthew Moore and Vincent Price appeared in Wilson.
Vincent Price and Dianne Wiest appeared in Edward Scissorhands.
Dianne Wiest and Kevin Bacon appeared in Footloose.
RE: WEA Alert: The enemy has adapted!
I shall be training the Devon Chapter of the WEA once again within a week...could do with a few of those!
RE: New sub atomic particle found.
hehe :-)...thanks R8sso. Not been away, just not posted much...so perhaps that means I`ve been away. I can`t match the villa in Spain unfortunately, just a flat in Lewisham.
RE: New sub atomic particle found.
The Higgs Boursin
RE: New sub atomic particle found.
Going to beembarrassing if it turns out to be a really small bit of cheese.
RE: What technological achievements can you realistically see happening in the next 50 years?
a bit like Ringo Starr on eternal loop then.....oh dear god...NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
RE: Todays The Day! - All 1095 of them
I`ve always thought you were a bit of a Canuck :p
(congrats mate!)
RE: Bar billiards.
Know of two very good ale pubs in London that have tables. When I can, I try to get a few games in :-)
RE: Roll call 2012 !!!! ..... Sign in EVERYBODY !!!!!!!!!!!!!
*HIC!*
oops...shorry...
I have a note from Viewtiful`s mum too....she put lots of kises at the bottom...or was it on the bottom..anyhoo, I digress...
here :-)
RE: Iran...
probably not until they fire off a missile at one of the ships I imagine. All we / the US need to do is look at the invisible Iranian territorial line in the water and they`ll start banging on about `illegal entry into Iranian waters`...then it all goes boom.
Ah well :-) A little song to cheer us up.
RE: Need a decent Blu-Ray player which also does multi-region DVDs....
well, got myself one of these in the end..seems to work ok :-)
RE: Top Thread Killers 2011
I thought I was quite good at it too...but not even having an honourable mention means I probably imagined it all. Must try harder!
11 years old...
happy birthday to me! :-)
...although I sometimes wonder where the time went.
RE: An ornament for the garden
They`re this much in colonial money
RE: Norris and Dobson guilty.
Couldn`t have happened to nicer blokes. I`m sure they`ll enjoy the `banter` in prison.
