Page 1 of Anyone know about the new region locks from the US ?

I have been playing region 1 dvd`s but have it on good authority that the region 1 films being sent from the US in the near future will contain region locks to stop us Brits from viewing the new releases.

Has anyone else heard this and is there a solution ?

Are you talking about RCE (Region Coding Enhancement)???
It all really depends on what sort of player you have???

This is found on new disks like R1 Patriot, it involves barring players which have auto region select.

I believe the bar can be easily overcome by placing another R1 disk in the player first, and then ejecting and putting the RCE disk in afterwards.

However dont be discouraged, most modified players are unaffected by this anyway. Plus a lot of American players are also refusing to play RCE disks, so at the moment it isnt a problem.

Fortunately as soon as a problem arises the hackers find a way round it.

I have a Samsung 709 player, and the day after i posted this message I managed to get the solution. I`m very impatient !

Sorry, been away.

The solution is to change your DVD player from multiregion to plain old region 1. I have a Samsung 709, so I just followed the tutorial on changing the region coding for my machine using this site.

I have already watched a region 1 only DVD and it works perfectly.
