Wharfedale to VHS recording

Guy (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 12th July 2000, 16:14

Hi there,

I am trying to record from R1 and R2 DVD`s on my 750 Wharfedale onto a Panasonic VHS, via a Sony TV. All are PAL/NSTC compatible. When it plays back the audio is ok but the picture is all over the place.

Is this Macrovision ? Can it be disabled with a hack ? If not, can I buy a chip to disable the macrovision ?

Many thanks

Guy

Yup thats Macrovision. No hack for the Wharf that disables it. Any one know if a chip is available?

Regarding your (illegal) copy problems.
R2 most likely macrovision (not all discs are protected)
R1 To record these you will have to get a VCR that RECORDS IN NTSC then play them on a PAL vcr with NTSC PLAYBACK or get your self a Multi Standard VCR to do everything for you.

I think your allowed to backup copyrighted material for your own purposes. However I`m not sure why anyone would want to go from a loverly format such as DVD to horrendously poor VHS. ;-)
