Glastonbury and EBay a new low

robiwill (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 1st April 2003, 19:13

Well I wanted to go to Glastonbury this year and now sold out. Why you ask well because so many Ebay low lifes have bought up all the tickets to make a profit on them! Sold out with in 24 hours and listings on Ebay already amount to 247 and those are just listings most are selling at least 2 tickets and some money grabbing insects are selling over 30! this is the only hope for music lovers.

If this is true I would be tempted to buy all the tickets and tell the sellers to go swing for their money. Let them chase me in court I am sure the Official Glastonbury Organisers would be more than willing to support me in court! Your views people!

This tout situation is bloody ridiculous! Even though I did manage to get tickets, I`m still really annoyed about this. It`s going to completely destroy Glastonbury if something isn`t done about it.

Considering that last year the tickets took 2 months to sell out, and this year it was less than 2 days, it should be obvious that the majority of tickets have gone to people who are going to sell them on.

Rather than try to police the Ebay mess, I would go one further and make ALL ticket sales null and void, refunding everyone who`s already paid. New tickets should then be put on sale with the following requirements:

1) All tickets to be printed with name and address details.
2) Strictly one ticket per named person.
3) Proof of ID required at the turnstile on entry.

I know this is a bit "Big Brotherish" - but it`s better than the alternative, I think.

Mike

it simply encourages more people to go over the fence.

i remember back in `94 when the tickets sold out in record time and the amount of peopl going over/under/through the fenec was ridiculous. I ended up paying £20 to someone on the gate to give me a hand stamp and let me in.

Who`s up for placing £1,000,000 bids on some auctions? The profiteering twats would have some hefty fees to pay!

totally agree with what your doing, but isn`t bidding a contract and as such they could chase you for the money? I do hope you`ve hidden your tracks!

No they, wouldn`t have to pay any fees. They`d just get a final value credit.
