Freddy Vs Jason...

Just got back from seeing this. First of all, I`m not generally a fan of "horror" films, but I do love the Evil Dead Trilogy. Second, I loathe the Friday the 13th films. I thought the first one was crap and Jason X was an abomination of an excuse of a movie. Terrible in every possible way, and not even so bad it`s good.

The Nightmare On Elm Street flicks were better horror fare in my opinion. I could sit back and enjoy them, especially the original and third film in the series.

So, I sat down in the cinema and basically kept an open mind. And you know what? I kinda enjoyed it. Sure, it`s a load of s***, but so are most horror/slasher films. This was a good laugh and I`m sure it would have had the fanboys spurting man-muck all over the place. Compared to the last horror film I saw (Jeepers Creepers 2) I would say this easily beats it. Although to be honest I was disappointed neither film had one jump, not even one! But at least there was plenty of blood and gore to justify the 18 certificate.

Anyone else seen it and what did you think?

Can`t say I`m a fan of the Hellraiser films either. The first one was alright, and had that atmosphere that get right under your skin ;)
But the others were crap in my opinion ;)

I`ll get around to see it eventually, as I`m a big horror fan.

In fact, I`ve had a horrortastic day today! I`ve had my Dawn of the Dead t-shirt, my Captain Spaulding - House of a 1000 Corpses t-shirt & my Dawn of the Dead 2 disc Dutch edition dvd all delivered today. They were all separate orders from different suppliers, but they all arrived today.

I was like a kid on Xmas morning when I got home from work today :) !!!

Right, back to my sad little life ;) !

I loved this film, im a big fan of the freddy films, but the friday films dont do much for me. It really was a film made for the fans, the reason that it worked so well was that the film makers new that it was cr*p we new it was cr*p, so two cr*ps make a right.... or something like that.

on another note i love the hellrasier films 9yes four was sh*t) but 7 and eight are on there way, go here: http://www.kodak.com/US/en/motion/newsletters/inCamera/april2003/hellraiserP.shtml#p
to read about it,

If you thought 4 was bad you should see 5 - Inferno...that really is utter mince and almost nothing to do with the Hellraiser characters :/

F Vs J however was good fun and glad to see less of the one line quips that have been the mark of the modern horror flick of late!

You still can`t beat most works from the master, John Carpenter, just for pure cheesy fun.
Halloween 1&2 (lets not even think about 3)
The Fog
And the ultimate classic The Thing.

actually didn`t even notice that a Hellraiser 5 had been released.

But what about Phantasam? Been waiting for the 5th in that series for a number of years, but don`t think it`s going to happen.
