*sigh* Ever had one of those days?
Another day at work, and yet more hassle from Burberry-capped, white-faced, sunken-eyed thieving junkie scum. We get a lot of them in where I work, after books, stationery, DVDs... like it matters, anything they get just gets punted on for sod all to get another fix.
Im in charge of the entertainment department, and this Xmas our head office has deemed it wise to send us box upon box of expensive boxsets to be put out. We don`t have enough storage space to remove the contents first so they`ve been put out `live` with magnetic tags and today about £500 worth of them have walked. Found the tags under a shelf.
As if THAT wasn`t enough, immediately afterwards one of our more irritating regular shoplifters, when asked to leave by a colleague, gave him a mouthful of abuse and spat right in his face. Obviously the police were called right away but since it was after 5 they won`t be in til tomorrow. However at least one person witnessed it one of the shopping centre`s security cameras may have witnessed it.
Would be SO glad if we can get something done about this guy, he`s been doing us over for months and we`ve had nothing to get him on. Being in Scotland we can`t get a banning order. Anyone know what we CAN do?

no police after 5? that`s a bit pointless isn`t it? i`m guessing its a shopping centre.....
RE: Scummy b*stard shoplifters
Sorry to hear about all that mate.
I totally sympathise with you. I used to be assistant manager of Game in Aberdeen until they closed it down about 6 years ago.
We had exactly the same thing. We put games out with security price tags on them (the ones that set the beepers off at the door). You would often catch the scum peeling off the stickers, and at the end of the day when sweeping up would find loads of them under the shelving (stickers that is, not the pikeys!)
If you catch them it`s pointless ringing the police as they know they will just get a slap on the wrist and it doesn`t bother them. Plus the Scottish law about having two people with the suspect at all times means that there is less staff on the shop floor to stop other thefts.
After the store closed down, I took the easy option. Got myself an office job in Newcastle. Spend all day sitting down and don`t have to deal with any customers. The only downside is my arse has got a lot fatter! :D
I highly recommend it.
Amazed DVDs arent delivered with tags already inside them (ie, inside the sealed disc box), every bloody one I order from the US does.

Try following him round every time he comes in, see if it puts him off. If someone is with him every second he is in the shop, he might get fed up. If that doesn`t work, I`ve always fancied putting pics of customers like this up in the window with a big list of all their misdemeanours!!

accidentally forget to press record on the security cameras, and invest in a baseball bat.
Failing that, shoot em
Or buy loads of drugs on the cheap, when you see one of the pikey junkies come in, pull them over and give them 5 days worth of stuff, tell them to come back in 5 days for some more.
Voila, no junkies shop lifting becasue they get their fix for free. Of course, 5 days worth will probably be "overdose city" and you won`t even have to supply any more in 5 days.
This space for sale
. <--- Except this bit, its mine.
When I worked in a place where shoplifting was rife, we got to know the usual suspects, and they`d dump the stuff on shelves as soon as they realised you were watching them. In the end as soon as they entered the store we`d follow them around at a VERY close and not at all discreet distance and they soon give up.
Of course, the obvious thing to do is shoot them......
