Is it rude to stick your middle finger up at a mobile speed camera? (I wasnt speeding)
In Cambridge there is a Police van that parks up all over the place and has two cameras sticking out of the back of it. Apparently one camera checks your speed whilst the other one checks your Tax disc.
Along with the van there are of course 4, yes 4 police cars parked up the road on either side (lets not forget the police certainly do not have better things to do with thier time and resources like catching REAL criminals like terrorists, burglars, muggers and rapists).
As i pass this van (i rarely speed nowadays after i now have 8 points on my license thanks to these b4stard vans) i have an amazing tendency, and this force overcomes my body and i suddenly feel the urge to stick my middle finger up at the said van. Straight in front of the camera. I do feel an enormous sense of well being afterwards.
I used to have a great respect for the police and would alwayd defend them, but now i think they are nothing but a useless bunch of money grabbing cretins with their priorities seriously in the wrong order.
So anyway - is it rude?? I hope not ;)

Couldnt agree more! Driving for a living you get to see the under handed tacktick these b*rstards use to nab the average joe motorist, makes me sick!

Whilst I strongly disagree with the "better things to do with thier time and resources like catching REAL criminals" comment, as lets not forget we drivers are the first to moan about people driving uninsured and unregistered vehicles getting involved in accidents (sometimes even killing pedestrians and other road users) and legging it, being untraceable...
It does always annoy me the reliance on technology which does nothing to assess road conditions and safety of your driving, deciding all on the speed you were going.
Out of curiosity, do people think if the motorway limit was raised to 80 (which a number of senior traffic police have suggested over the years) would those of us who usually actually do 80 start doing 90?

I have never understood why a simple system of showing that your car is taxed via your number plate isn`t implemented. It`s not THAT complicated, not too expensive, and then you chould bin all this complex technology to check tax disks, and utilise current numberplate recognition devices. It would be plainly obvious if you were untaxed.

Yeah, where are the vans usually? I live in Cambridge as well and would do well to know. :)

They dont go after the poor motorist to make the roads safer, the chancellor needs is cash cows to deliver, and it`s time for milking!

I believe that in Germany, there is no speed limit on at least some of the autobahn stretches. It would be interesting to know at what speed, the main traffic flow settles at over there.

On a similar note I was wondering the other day how long it will be before someone is caught by a speed camera driving while using a mobile phone and gets booked for it surely the police will not want to miss out on the extra money from fines and soon be sending notice of intended prosecutions for speeding and driving while using a mobile.
