Where did you read that? The only change of fees I can see is to do with Reserve Price auctions.

When you list anything ie a start price of .99p this is classed as the reserve the starting price

Dont know where you got confirmation of that from. There is no mention made of starting prices, only reserves.

Agree with Matt & RJS. There is a diference between starting price & reserve price. It`s only the reserve price that`s affected.

RE: E Bay Uk Listing Rip Off UK from 20th Jan starts at £1.00 !!!!!! per listing plus fees
Spin - here`s the difference.
Let`s say you`d like to flog something for at least £25. You put the Starting Price at, say, £15 to get people interested. This will incur a listing fee of 75p. However, you`re not going to let it go at £15, because you want at least £25. Therefore you also set a Reserve Price of £25, which currently incurs an extra fee of 75p. This is refunded if your item sells. It is this last fee that is altering.
These are, of course, completely separate from the fee that you will also pay when your item sells, which is based on the final selling price.
Just don`t set a reserve price if you`re selling, then there`s no reserve price fee at all. If you look at the Community Q&A forum on ebay, they admit they are hiking the prices to put people off from setting reserves.
Hope this makes some sort of sense.

Personally, I start most things at 0.99
I don`t sell things unless I KNOW things will get interest, so if I know people will fight up to say £30 for an item, isn`t starting it at 0.99 MORE likely to get them interested in the interim ?!

Because it is practically a monopoly (if not indeed actually one) in the market it exists in. I would use other auction sites if there was anything on them worth bidding on, but whenever I check there never is. :/
