For me it has to be Tom Cruise. He can do any role. De Niro and co are considered good actors but they always play the same type of role. Cruise Has done comedy action drama romance everything. He isnt afraid to cross borders and try new things(Eyes Wide Shut). He works with everyone well and even does low budget films like magnolia. He Started with Top Gun as an emotionally disturbed pilot and hasnt looked back ever since. My fave movies of him are

From My list you can see that he has done nearly every role. These movies were all box office suceses.
It was sad to here about his splitting up but he`ll bounce back im sure

Arnold Schwarzenegger.....

Tom Cruise makes a great film star, but as far as pure acting goes you have to look at English actors like Gary Oldman and Tim Roth. They are truly versatile, and aren`t afraid to put their hearts into the role. Jim Carrey is one of the few American actors that "becomes" the character. I like Michael Douglas aswell, he always puts in a believable performance. Most hollywood actors are image obsessed and afraid of looking silly.

Well one of the earlier threads mentioned him, and for his performances in Seven and even Snatch, Brad Pitt is definitely one of the best actors of the world, especially because of his versatility with any role.

There`s probably loads I`ve left out there, and I don`t think I could pick a favourite, it`s too damn hard to compare any of them with each other because of the different roles they`ve all played. Has anyone tried naming a favourite actress? I can`t think of any really at the minute, there`s none that really stand out in my head.

As far as actors goes im surprised no one has mentioned our very own Michael Caine. He was Brilliant as secret agent Harry Palmer
