Just a thought, try Canadian Affair to Toronto & then a connecting flight down.

Never had any issues with them!
If you want some real bargains when in NY get a bus to Woodbury Outlet Mall, it`s about a $27 coach ride, will take a whole day (journey is about 1h from main Bus Terminal and you will save even more than Manhattan prices on Timberland, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Puma, TAG Watches and almost every other trendy US designer name you can think of!
Pay the extra $5 over the standard bus fair for the Coupon book, you`ll save even more!
Also, go to guest services at the big department stores (Maceys, Bloomingdales) and they give coupon books or cards to Foreign Visitors allowing you at least 10% discount! They also give free tote bags and other stuff women love!

As already mentioned, try going with IcelandAir, changing at Reykjavik. I flew to Boston that way and saved a few quid - takes a bit longer though.

Avoid Air India.
We did it a few years back as it was the cheapest. Got on at Heathrow and it was the dirtiest plane I have ever seen.
We found out that it had come from Delhi and stopped at Heathrow to refuel and collect more passengers. The plane had not been cleaned and the two seats we booked together were already taken! Cabin staff very rude and didn`t seem to care.
Although I did like the curry!
