Armed Forces Minister Adam Ingram says photos allegedly showing UK troops abusing an Iraqi detainee were "categorically" not taken in Iraq.

I think a charge of treason`s closer to the mark. Morgan (and the editor of the Washington Post) both have the blood of that bloke Al-Quaeda beheaded on them.

The Mirror is certainly in a difficult position (to say the least) as it has been reporting stories and pictures which are now almost certainly fake; the Washington Post is in a different situation as it has published facts. If anyone has the blood of Nick Berg on their hands (aside from the individual who chopped his head off) then it is the U.S. soldiers and politicians who thought that ritual humiliation and abuse was a good thing to do to POWs.

I thought that the City Slickers/Viglen Shares scandal was enough to make Piers Moron`s position untenable, but he, inexplicably, is still in a job. Hopefully he`ll do the decent thing this time around, but don`t count on it.

I have an intense dislike for the man and I`d love to see him humiliated.

I thought he had already tried to get out of it by saying that they never said they were taken in iraq, merely that they dipicted the kind of activities that were going on there...

I do not trust The Mirror at all and this news is no surprise. Hopefully their sales will fall dramatically now (even more than they already have!). They have been a disgrace for as long as I can remember and Piers Morgan should resign immediately. I agree with the earlier poster, he has blood on his hands. They should have been proved to be genuine BEFORE publication.

That was the initial line but once doubt had been cast upon their authenticity The Mirror changed its tack slightly and said that, even if they were proven to be fake, they were accurate depictions of the kind of actions carried out by British troops.

Do they have proof of this? They would have to back up that statement with proof. Hopefully the paper is in BIG trouble, now.

Can`t agree with that more, what the Al-Quaeda terrorists did to Nick Berg was shocking and horrifying and my heart goes out to his family and friends, but it was stated to be in revenge for the abuse of the POWs which also disgusts me. If that witch Lynndie England is telling the truth when she says that worse things than what she did are going on, then it makes my skin crawl to think that the Iraqi`s are in the hands of people of this mentality.
