I hope the Portugese police operate camcorders like the British ones at these riots, so the thugs can be banned from travelling ever again, that is if we don`t get kicked out.

Alas I think that as long as we have a society where it is culturaly acceptable to drink too much and get lairy, and where wives and girlfriends accept this behaviour from their other halves by staying with these people, and where people find the idea of resorting to violence to solve situations okay, things won`t change.

I expect that anyone who gets arrested and found guilty, when deported will probably then be banned for life from England matches as well as passport confiscated etc.

I think turning a blind eye to dope smoking was a stroke of genius. After a few Marleys I cant even be arsed with thumb wrestling let alone a full scale pagga!

Alcohol is the bane of this society. As i was getting ready for work this morning i caught a few minutes of Trisha, titled `Mums got a drinking problem`.

She basically hated her kids and used it as an excuse to get leathered all the time and shout at them.

Personally, I Like a few pints before a game as it lubricates the vocal cords. But i would never drink to excess. Football is so freaking expensive these days, I want to savour every minute. Ive been to games where people can barely stand. Whats the point of that?

Of course, the hardcore hooligans dont give a crap about football. They only care about asserting their frustrated masculinity in an increasingly feminised world, in the only way they know how. Perhaps serial hooligans should be conscripted. That`d give the f***ers something to direct their aggression at.

Not sure I`d call them England fans - more like idiot holidaymakers 300km from the football (or rather England team) that get into trouble nearly every week out there.

Amazingly it only seems to get mentioned when there`s a major sporting event involving the England team - and the press and tv crews there too...

Don`t blame alcohol entirely - sure it doesn`t help but a lot of these thugs aren`t drunk when causing trouble - it`s just in their nature to be violent. It`s a sad state of affairs but it is true we have some of the most violent and worse behaved people on the planet in England. It is not going to get better believe me until parents and the government take this problem seriously and deal with it. I don`t want to scared of walking the streets when i`m 60 thank you. I kind of favour the "Escape From New York" idea - why don`t we build a big wall around Milton Keynes or somewhere and chuck all of these louts in there to fight amongst themselves - (apologies to anyone from MK).

Hit the nail on the head matey! Leave the media to thrive on it. It`s what sells their papers after all. Long after the tournament has finished, these type of mallet heads will be seen all over the Med slobbering and puking everywhere. Only this time, as normal, it will be ignored by the media unless someone wishes to do a documentary for Trevor McDonald on it.

Good point Andy.
It`s no secret that these thugs plan months ahead of these events,it`s been documented on tv programmes like "Macintyre investigates".

This has been blown out of all proportion by the media and the over-reaction of the portugeese police. These are not the hardcore hooligans that people think they are - in fairness, the majority of that crowd never got out of the UK as the police intelligence is getting so good.

What is going on in these bars is no worse than most uk cities on a saturday night - a load of p***ed people leaving a bar and some beer bottles get thrown. Over here we get used to it and ignore it - over there the riot police move in to break up the trouble - IT JUST MAKES IT WORSE >:(

These people would behave exactly the same, football or no football - watch greece/ibeefa uncovered and you will see it happens all the time - just normally the worlds press and a bunch of batton happy rozzers are not about.

Just ignore them and they may go away.... :/

It`s ignoring them that let`s them think they can get away with behaving like it in the first place.
