How good is this dvd in terms of transfer, picture sound extras etc. I love this movie but is it worth getting on dvd? What about die hard 2?

The current R2 (and R4) versions of Die Hard 1 and 2 are both uncut, and have anamorphic transfers with 5.1 sound. The quality is excellent in both cases.

There`s nothing in the way of special features, though, so you might want to hold out for the forthcoming R1 special editions instead.

I have the region 2 of Die Hard, and it`s true to say that the picture and sound are good for the age of the title, but I`m not convinced about the Un-cut status. I distinctly remember a scene where he runs across broken glass and cuts his feet badly. This version shows him looking disdainfully at the glass and then later picking bits of it out of his wounds. The interim period is missing. Either I have an over-active imagination, or this part of the movie has been tampered with. On other occasions too, I noticed the "jarry" editing associated with censorship, I could be wrong though. As always, the newly proposed Region 1 versions sound tempting and if I were you I`d hang in there.
