Some reckon it`s a shadowy secret society. Others say it`s just extreme Catholicism. And yes, I have read The Da Vinci code. :D

I used to get literature from them. They are not at all a secret sect, though they are very fundamentalist Roman Catholic. Nothing dodgy going on, as some would have you believe.

funny, that opus dei website - it says that the book maintains that constantine invented jc`s divinity, whereas, as I recall, the book said that constantine and the council of nicea took a vote to decide what version of events should go into the bible - and the one they went with was the one that had christ as a divine figure, cox it was the most popular...

They met in Nicaea and formulated the Nicene Creed. Nothing to do with the Divinity of Christ, which is already established in the Gospels ("my Lord and my God") and expanded in the writings of St. Paul.

That conspiracy book is totally incorrect about everything. Sort of along the lines of the lies Eric von Daniken gave as "proof" of aliens back in the seventies. It was all lies and thousands came in suckers.

Their was a big spread in this weeks Mail On Sunday about them, at their core they operate the same way as other cults, they separate people from their family`s to the extent that they tried to stop a man who supported his parents, brothers and sisters in his home country, from sending them ANY money at all, even though that was all the money they received. They said to give the money TO THEM, Opus Dei.

The leader was a friend and supporter of Mussolini. The Pope is even belived to regard them as a cult. Steer clear.

You are aware of the Irony in using writings that are over a thousand years old, have been translated through many languages from hardly impartial viewpoints to disprove opinions in a 2 year old book?
