The best DVD production company is...
Which companies release the best disks of their films?
Paramount have plenty to release but their extras are of poor quality and quantity,
Warner deserve credit for releasing just about everything (films like Blade Runner / Wild Bunch) but suffer with their rubbish cases.
Fox are generally good with average features (although the recent Predator problem may change your mind)
Columbia Tristar are my choice of best company for their releases which are mostly jam packed with extras.
Pathe have released a few good ones.
Have I missed any?

For best picture & sound I would have to say Fox.
Especially if you have a DD sound system. (Fox discs don`t seem to sound so good in prologic for some reason)
Warner are a bit hit & miss really.
Pathe have a fairly good reputation in my opinion.
For extras & overall content/quality I would agree Columbia Tristar though.

New Line - R1 Magnolia is a great transfer.
Dreamworks is good too, but a lot of their films` menus have the same format, strange. don`t believe me? look at Saving private ryan and Gladiator, both on region 1. released 12 months apart but the menus are the same!

I agree, Columbia Tristar generally are best for extras, although their transfers are not always the best around.
Entertainment in Video, can usually be relied on for not only great transfers, but also quality extras, such as Se7en and Magnolia. And I believe they were one of the first companys to stock their DVDs with proper extras.
Also....little know over here, company called Anchor Bay release brillant discs and extras for movies most companys wouldnt give a second thought about (whether they deserve them or not)
I used to think Fox were pretty good, until PREDATOR came along......GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I think New Line are quite underrated - they certainly put a bit of work into their bigger titles. R1 Blade and Rush Hour immediately spring to mind and anyone who has the R1 8-disc Nightmare on Elm Street Box-set knows what I`m talking about. Superb stuff.
I agree with what you say about Warner - I think the majority of my titles are from them (120 out of 200) and while the cases and extras are pretty bad most, if not all, of their releases are anamorphic (though sometimes this isn`t mentioned on the cases) and many of their older titles have revamped soundtracks. I recently picked up R2 Outland, Deliverance and er Purple Rain (sorry but the 5.1 soundtrack IS excellent) and, considering their age, all had nice transfers, Outland especially, and excellent DD sound.
Paramount are p*** poor with average transfers and are very stingy on the extras - Untouchables, Mission Impossible anyone? The same applies to Fox though the new DTS Die Hard box-set could change that perception.
