If you don`t declare it - As much as you can carry!
(Or you can post them back one by one)

I think your allowance is £180, sounds s*** doesn`t it and yes it is. Whilst some things are cheaper over there, it really isn`t that much cheaper buying DVDs there and carrying them home than just ordering them from over here.

In fact in the US high street, its way more expensive. :)

It`s only really worth buying DVDs in the US if you can get them on sale or special offer, as normally they`re sold at RRP (typically $25-$30 before tax). I went to New York for the first time a couple of weeks back and managed to pick up a couple of bargains at HMV in Herald Square, who were having a closing down sale with 40% off everything - you just have to keep your eyes peeled.

Even if you don`t find any bargains, though, it`s still worth going into High Street shops in the US just for the buzz of browsing through racks of R1s! The Virgin Megastore in Times Square has an amazing selection, with whole sections devoted to "Criterion", "DTS" etc.

P.S. "Football? Don`t you mean SARK-RRR?" :-)

Never buy them from Tower Records. I went to one and dvds were $25+ (plus, all the prices are without sale tax, which is around 8%). I bought all my dvds from supermarkets like Wal-mart and K-mart for under $20 each (about £14).

I didn`t declare them, you can get really stung by the additional charges they make (and i think they take them off you if you can`t afford the fees).

Unseal your dvd`s and if you`re asked their value, you can say that they were "second hand" and only worth 25% of the street value.

A (stoopid) friend of mine kept all the receipts, manuals etc for his gadgets and goodies in the same suitcase as the goods. Boy did he get stung for import tax.
Lesson to be learnt here - If you buy any gadgets etc post the manuals etc back home. Discard any packaging which makes the goods obviously new etc.
I bought a camera over there once, wore it round my neck on the way back through customs over here - looked stoopid but no probs!
