Withdrawal from DVD Reviewer

0A1B2C (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 9th June 2005, 10:22

I have been a long member of DVD Reviewer, possibly for 3 or so years. Before using my real name I used a nickname.

Over those years that I have been a member I have seen many changes such as people coming and going and changes to the forums.

I have to say I have not been happy with DVD Reviewer`s forums of late, mainly over the past few months. These forums are no longer what they once used to be.

Therefore I have decided to withdraw as a member. After today I will no longer visit the website, read or post any messages.

Regards,
Adam Walby

I would just like to say this is something I have been considering for some time now, and have now decided to take action.

No, this is not the case.

I do like DVD Reviewer but I am sick of being accused of things I am not/have not done.

listen.. I`ve been here longer than anyone.. and i`ve seen several nasty little trolls come and go... you aren`t one of them... just use your judgement a little more wisely.. people have strong views on certain subjects and if you poke them for fun.. they will bite..
but there is certainly not a decline in standards or members attitudes.. in fact.. i`d say just the opposite.. there`s a nice group of regulars who share and discuss on a daily basis.. and for the first time since I`ve been a member.. a broad range of contributors.. especially those of the opposite sex..

so think twice before you cut off your nose to spite your face..

HaGGis!, the thread I posted was honestly not meant to anger anyone at all. From my point of view I asked a question. I asked "what are your views on this?". I did not put across any opinion of my own at all. The thread was simply to get people discussing the subject and to see what their opinions are.

Instead I have been completely blasted. Its not acceptable.

For what it`s worth, i tend to agree with Adam, that the response to his somewhat unusual question was unwarranted.

We`ve all got blasted at some time or another, Adam. It comes with the territory. The web seem to bring out the best and worst in folks, there`s frequently little middle ground. Especially where religion or politics are concerned. Things are pretty laid back around here with regards R&P, they`re not banned like some (anally retentive) forums I can mention. Unfortunately, that relaxed attitude means when you inadvertantly rattle somebody`s cage, they go for your fingers.

Lurk a while longer. ;)

No, we`ve all enjoyed it immensely.

In what way do you feel they have changed?

I can see there is alot of discussions which turn to slaging matches, ans indeed some of them make interesting reading.

Of course with any medium allowing access to anyone you will always get very differing opinions. i feel it is what you do with those opionions and how you let them effect you.

Personally, i get involved if i feel the need, ignore stuff i feel is simply not worthy of a response, and enjoy laughing at those who wish to take stuff further and further.

So i think it all works very well.

Im not sure why you have the need to `take a stand` for example, why not just ignore the things you dont like, participate where you want to, and when stuff goes on which you find too much simply ignore it, laugh at it, and remember its not exactly totaly real if you see what i mean.

It would be a shame to loose people, and of course its up to you, but maybe judt dont take it so seriously if you see what i mean? :) :) :)

I guess every community has it problem members, if we didnt, or if we dont want them, we should ask this to be a private members club and pay for it, which of course its not, and we dont :) :)

No matter what you say someone always tends to pick a fault with it and replies with some sort of smug, arrogant or sarcastic reply or just insults you in some way.

I do not understand why I was slated for asking a question. Its beyond a joke.
