Hello again
I have my DVD connected to my EXT2scart on my TV via S-Video, to watch I have to select Y/C on my TV. I can`t work out how to record a DVD with this setup, my Video is connected via scart to EXT1scart on the TV, I can`t find the DVD channel through the Vid, tried searching through the frequencies with no luck. My video has ext1 ext2 ext3 and aux on the channel selector but there`s nothing on these.
HELP!!!!!!!!!

Its unlikely your video supports S-Video or RGB, so you need to tell your player to output composite via SCART. Then you should select the aux from your video to record from a DVD, however Macrovision will prevent you from copying copyrighted material such as films.

Thanks Robert but I hope you`re wrong, what standard of Video supports S-Video. I have a Philips VR805, pretty snazzy but I don`t know much about it. If you`ve read any of my other posts you will know the problems I`ve had with RGB and the S-Video cable has sorted them.
Ironduke, Nelley, any ideas on how I can sort this one out???

To record S-Video you need a S-VHS video recoder andS-VHS tapes, nice and expensive

Don`t quite understand that Chris, I only want to record normally, is that what you mean. It`s just that my DVD is connected to the TV by S-Video cable.
I`m confused again %-(

Right This is a bit of a stonker!

I currently have an old 21" Sony it has 2 scart`s and a Svideo port.

Scart1 : will except composite & RGB input, but will only output composite from Tv Tuner(The screen).

Scart2 : will except Composite & Svideo , this will output Composite from selected source, this can be TV, RGB, SVIDEO.

But to do this you have to change it in the TV`s menu.

I simply connected my DVD player to the Video via scart, pressed play, then Record and F! off the pub!

Turned out quite well actually:)

If your TV doesnt have the option to select the output source you may have problems.

I think things are getting a little confused . You can select Ext1 or Ext 2 on your TV But you may not be able to link Ext1 to Ext 2 for recording purposes. Your DVD will probably have composite outputs RED, WHITE and YELLOW phono sockets . Your Video will have composite inputs (usually for connecting camcorders) When these sockets are used Video recorders often switch to these inputs automatically. So connect comp output of your DVD to the comp input of your video. Unless you have had the macrovision(anti-copy) system defeated on your DVD you will have trouble recording off your DVD (colour changes and tracking).. Often when people have their DVD players chipped for mult-region the microvision is disabled at the same time.However all is not lost, you can disable the macrovision by placing a device between the DVD and your video, these are called video enhancers or video stabilishers . You can obtain one of these devices from skcaportkel[at]tenretnitb cost approx £ 38 . Macrovision is also used on digital Pay to View ,this gaget works with this as well.
