Is unleaded petrol still cheaper in France?

slipperysam (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 18th August 2005, 14:55

We`re off to Holland tomorrow for our summer hols. Does anyone know if unleaded fuel is still cheaper in Calais than the UK? I assume that with our current high prices that it would be cheaper over the water but thought I`d ask anyhow.

Many thanks

Sam.

Don`t ask for figures, but I know diesel is a fair bit cheaper.
Petrol will be too I would assume.

Only the other week I read a report on a guy going to Calais to get his Audi serviced by a proper Audi dealer there.

His ferry fare, the service,a nice meal, some boxes of wine and a full tank of diesel were still cheaper than the service only from a UK dealer !

I dont know, but theres no way on gods green earth that it can be any more expensive.

Weve gone from doing our shopping weekly to every two weeks just so we can get the 5p a litre discount vouchers. We fill the tank up and hope it lasts until the next time we go shopping.

Its also working out quite well because i havent bought a drop from the robbing bastards at BP for absolutely ages. Or shell for that matter.

It is (or was about 6 weeks ago) about 2p per litre cheaper, so not by much, but it is a bit.

I`m in France right now (and still trying to get used to this sodding non-qwerty keyboard). I know diesel can be had for 1.05 euros, which is roughly 0.70p. Don`t use petrol so I`m not sure. Going to the Supermarket in a mo so I`ll have a butcher`s. One thing to add, the supermarkets are a lot cheaper than the petrol stations. Incidentally, I did hear the other day that Britain now has the most expensive diesel in the world!

Edit: Just noticed that it`s too late for you to read this :/

I know this is off the subject a little, but can anyone tell me if there is a difference in petrol quality when buying it from a Supermarket or a Petrol station like Esso or BP?

Sorry again for changing the subject of the thread.
