What about a sheep? they cut the grass shorter than a cow! :D

Try one of these
Go for the McCulloch 3540P if you can find a nearby store with one in stock.

Crikey i fear the thread is turning to the dark side ;)

Back to the mowers ....

I would say an electric would be fine, unless you have no power within a mile of the garden, and/or have a petrolhead leaning :D

As for type, well it depends on what you will use the lawn for. If you just want to keep the damn thing under control, go for a hover mower; if you want a decent lawn for kicking a ball around and the occasional BBQ then get a rotary mower; if you are taking up crown green bowls and want to practice at home, or plan on holding garden parties to rival the queen then get a cylinder mower - it gives the finest finish of all.

Obvioulsy the bigger the grass collecter, and the wider the mower the less you will have to do to get the lawn finished. Look for special offers and get a reasonable brand (forget power devils etc - think Qualcast, Black and Decker, Bosch ). Homebase 10% w/e are normally a good place to get a deal if all else fails.

Hope this helps!
