I am so angry and so upset - racist bastards

sashenden (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 17th September 2005, 19:54

Dont really know why I am posting this here, guess i need to just let it out,so feel free to ignore me. Dont want to be an attention seeker but just feeling so angry and so upset it almost has me on the verge of tears that this has happened. Just been up to the shop 5 minutes walk away, in my little village. It means going over a level crossing at one point. It is also the only road through the village and i have to use it whenever I get my girlfriend or take her home.

Anyway, on the way back I am just walking along when this guy I dont know sitting outside the pub with his mate starts singing in a drunken voice. "I love n*****s, do you love n*****s too?" I`m sure it was for my benefit, it was done as i walked past. So presumably this means they have seen me with my (black, if you hadnt guessed) g/f sitting at the level crossing and have an issue with it.

Why the hell are there people like this scum in the world? I know some people on here would have quite happily broken the guys nose or worse, but that just isnt me. I just dont do violence. The fact he was drunk, outside a pub with a bottle and at least one mate probably helped me restrain myself too. I just carried on walking, (thankfully the barrier was up) with my head held high.

Now I am worried about the next time we are out and have to come by the pub. I dont know whether to tell her about this and try to avoid coming past the place, but wouldnt that mean he wins? I dont want to upset her with this, I am just so glad she is working tonight. Also wondering if i am going to end up with something happening to my car or house, but probably not. Definately sleeping with the phone next to the bed from now on though.

Persoanlly I wouldn`t worry about it. Racist pricks like this are a dying breed, despite what the tabloids and the BNP would have us believe. What you have to think about is what happened after you were out of earshot. Maybe his mate told him to shut the f*** up, possibly the landlord told him to p*** off.(I know I would if it was my pub).

You`re right, if you change the way you live your life in any way, this arsehole`s got the better of you. All you should do is follow the official route. Should this chap make another racist comment in your presence, I believe you`re within your rights to call the police on him. Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is human intervention.

I appreciate your position, and yes, I would be fearful of reprisals. However, bear in mind that the bloke was p***ed, and he had his mate with him. Conclusion? Coward.

I am so glad I can walk away, i know there are people who cant, although i suppose some people would call me a coward for not standing up to him. I work in an office with someone who the first time he saw a pic of my g/f said, and I quote "Awe mate, I am so disappointed in you, going out with a spear chucker". And then denied to my boss in a meeting/disciplinary that it was a racist remark! You can probably imagine how much restraint it took not to put his head through his computer screen. >:(

I do kung fu, just for the fun of training and never to use, but I should be able to snap the guys arm, smash his knee and blind him, all in a couple of swift moves. Of course that would end with me getting banged up, and I wouldnt go down that route anyway. Well, only as a last desperate attempt to defend myself against someone who i thought was going to kill me. Anyway, trying to make myself sound all macho now. :-) Who am i trying to kid?

Thanks for the words guys, helping me feel a bit better about things.

Not much more to add other than you did the right thing not rising to it. I can understand your anger though, the guy is obviously an ignorant twat.

As for your work colleague - words fail me, truly...

P.S. You`re definitely not a coward, any form of acknowledgement/challenge is what he was after and you denied him that.

Well, the work colleague`s comment was unbelievable......as for the pub, what an ignorant d!ckhead.

You did the right thing, and I wouldn`t let it bother you....he`s probably just jealous you have a sexy black girlfriend to go home with while he has to sit outside the pub with his mates!

why take life so seriously..its not like you are going to make it out alive

Don`t let it get you down.

Why get upset about the opinions of someone who clearly has the mental capacity of a lobotomised sparrow.

Starting a fight would only have been sinking to his brain-dead neanderthal level.

Don`t worry, he`ll probably die soon when he forgets how to breathe.

Twat!

Firstly dont forget it, work out what to do next time, how long have you been going out with your G/F because if its been a few years and you have walked past the pub a lot of times then maybe it wont happen again, if its only six months then expect it again, I would phone the Police and if he is drunk outside the pub try and get the Police to talk to the landlord as well , he may s*** himself and worry about is licence and what the brewery might say and then ban the twat, thats what I would do next time. :)

Bloke at work I woudn`t speak to him again unless it`s to do with work. :)
