Photodiscs on Pioneer 626 multi region
Hi. I want to put my old still photos thru my PC and onto CDRs that I can show on TV via a Pioneer 626. I do believe it is possible (esp. as the 626 reads CDRs!) by creating VCDs (?). Can anyone confirm, point me to a site that tells how to do it blow-by-blow, or whatever? What format should I save the pix in - JPG, TIFF ....? I also have some Kodak photodiscs (ie.: as produced by Kodak with my photos on) that I used to read on a CD-I player. Can I see these thru my 626 in some way, or should I put them thru the PC, change their format and save them anew on CDR in order to do so.
Can anyone tell me of any downsides to doing any of this? Is visualizing the photos an easy affair?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Easiest way to do it is by using the CD Writer software Nero on the PC - with the latest version you can take pictures in various formats and convert them into a VCD which you can then step through as a photo album.
More info is probably on their site http://www.ahead.de
(but it definately works :-) )

You may also want to try the Daddy of all VCD sites http://www.vcdhelper.com - a veritable wealth of information !

I notice that most dvd players warn you NOT to shove photodiscs in (hence the advice above about creating a VCD) - anyone know why you can`t use photodiscs? Anyone dared try it?

Probably something to do with software limitations, Richard.
Interestingly, in the US, there is a new player coming out soon, built by Sampo (the DVE631CF) which will allow you to look at photo`s stored in .jpeg format via a Compact Flash card (ditto MP3 playback).
Not quite the same thing, but it`s a move in the right direction, I s`pose.
