You could always dig out the early terry Pratchetts (Light Fantastic & Colour of magic especially) I believe they`re read by Tony Robinson.

cheers :) i`m getting it now, tbh i didn`t know if i could still get onto uknova, mainly because i only ever got one file from there (the last train, absolute british classic i`d been looking for for ages :) ) but once i`d finished it there where no leachers so my ratio was something like 0.215 with no chance of recovery :( damn ntl`s upload speeds.
thanks again & keep the recomendations coming :)

If you were to get into Pratchett, go for his earlier stuff. His recent works, including THUD, which I`m reading now has got so many political undertones (inclusing allusions to al-quaeda and organised crime syndicates) it makes you wonder if he`s using his books as a soapbox. Still, once the politics are out of the way, it`s still a bloody good read

All the Michael Palin travel books are well worth hearing (80 Days, Pole to Pole, Full Circle, Hemingway Adventure, Sahara and Himalaya) - his reading of them is superb and they are very entertaining and educational. I prefer them to the TV series!

Ian McEwan-Enduring Love
got it from that Times freebie offer-read by Richard E Grant-fantastic and weird
I think any Ian McEwan book would be marvellous-reading Saturday at the moment

If you liked Stephen King, try James Herbert. The Dark and The Rats were fun, as long as you remember that they aren`t set in the present day exactly. :)

Open Soulseek and type Audiobook, to get a good Idea of the sort of stuff thats around.
I worked my way through `a brief history of time` recently on my way to work. Theres a decent Blade Runner/Electric sheep one out there and theres a Silmarillion one that is just a total headf***er. All the characters names sound the same so you have to pay super careful, ninja attention to it.
The Dune ones are good too and cover most of the Canon books.
