Page 1 of MP3 in a car
General Forum
I`ve yet to invest in an MP3 player as I`m waiting till I can afford a DAB and MP3 combined, Pure 2000 sort of thing.
The question is how easy (expensive) is it to get one to plug into the car system.
Properly though, not via one of those FM doobries that stick two feet out of the fag lighter.

If its an iPod you have, get yourself a Griffin iTrip(about £17-18) on eBay.They are illegal in the UK so you cant buy it in the shops. It is an FM transmitter that you plug in the top of your Pod,tune your car stereo into the designated frequency(the default is 87.9)and it plays the tunes through the radio. You will need to buy a dock that you plug into the air vent. You can get a lead to charge it which plugs into the cigarette charger but you dont need it.I have one of these and it works fine.
I bet after all that you dont have an iPod.

Dr 42%er.
It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....
Aldi were selling an MP3 head unit for £49 not so long ago. It played MP3 cd`s and had a USB port to plug an MP3 player into.
Maplans were doing a similar item for £99 which inlcuded DAB and it also had a port for a flash memory card (think it was SD).

Don`t know about the radio bit, but I simply connect my Mp3 player to the cars cassette deck with a connector I got with my CD player (looks like a cassette with a cble). The MP3 player just sits on a recess in the dashboard.

I`ve got one of these and they`re really good. They have SD, USB and RCA inputs which I could plug my iPod into:

But check this out looks like a new version you can plug the iPod in directly to the USB port (wish I`d got one of these now):
