Did anyone else watch this? The last few days of Christ`s life shown through the music of Manchester. I thought it was pretty good actually and liked the spin they put on many of the songs. I`d never thought of New Order`s Blue Monday as a conversation before and I liked I Am The Resurrection from the top of the spire at the end. The only gripe I had was the BBC`s apparent lack of geographical knowledge of this country. Since when was Robbie Williams a Mancunian...?!
I thought this sounded wonderfully hideous, but I downloaded it yesterday (sending to a very very very Christian friend in America who I thought would find it interesting) and I think I`ll watch it myself sometime today.

I thought it was fantastic. The cross going through the streets was quite moving, and it did make you listen to the words of the songs in a whole new light. I must admit the use of angels was a bit dodgy - not a song i would link with manchester ;)
The Bigman Cometh
I`d thought it was a terrible, tacky idea beforehand but found it inspired, extremely powerful and thought provoking, even to a non-Christian.
The bloke who played Jesus was especially good.
That climax was spine tingling.
If anyone wants to see it and has Teleport Replay, it`s available on there for a week or so.
I only saw the second half which was brilliant, can anyone tell me where/how I can download it please.

I just watched it and I absolutely loved it. Really really fantastic performances from Jesus and co.
I didn`t like the roving reporter - *that* was tacky. Listening to the peoples` responses in the cross procession was great, but the roving reporter, like roving reporters everywhere, wasn`t listening to them and her questions were rather asinine. I think pre-recorded vox pops would have been better (maybe).
I also didn`t like Mary - I skipped past all her singing, at least partly because I`ve been sick to death of that bloody M People song for years and didn`t want to listen to umpteen reprises of it.

Get yourself a BitTorrent client (I recommend Azureus) and use a torrent search engine (like TorrentSpy) to find it. Download the .torrent file, open it in Azureus, and wait. :)

Darren Morfitt was the actor and he was just amazing. A very moving and heartfelt portrayal.
When I read about it I thought it would be toe-curling awful, with singers and actors either mugging it or looking embarrassed. It was very sincere, even to Keith Allen doing the narration with some respect for the subject matter.
The guy from James who played Judas even broke down during the Last Supper as it hit home to him personally. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" was a wonderful choice for that part of the Passion.
The Resurrection sent the hairs on my kneck on end.
So pleased to see something so beautiful and respectful for Easter. Just loved it.
It has had excellent reviews all around and hopefully will come out on DVD.
Lastly, Happy Easter everyone! :)
