anyone else avoiding the world cup?

cassius76 (Elite) posted this on Friday, 19th May 2006, 18:33

I was in Manchester last weekend, quite an experience! what shocked me was that the entire city revolves around football. Gigantic posters of beckahm and rooney all over the place.. of course it`s the home of man united I realise that.. but by god if it isn`t rammed down your throat everywhere you look. And the cars all have england flags on them, and most houses had england flags draped out of every window..

Anyway..

As I`m not a football fan.. I wondered if anyone else is dreading the 9th june til 9th of july like me...?

I can`t see what the problem is. There are plenty of channels with alternative programmes on nowadays. There`s also the video library, Cinema, Theatre, Bowling. etc, etc, etc....

Me I can`t wait for the footie.

Although I`m not at all a fan of the UK football scene (I could care less about the Premiereship, First Division etc.), I do really enjoy the World Cup and Internationals. The only trouble is, it`ll be on the same time as Wimbledon and Big Brother - my remote will have smoke coming from it!! :D

Don`t you reckon there`ll be lots of frustrated football widows? :o

So you set up a website and post the excess on here :D

Yep, Eurovision & BB as well.

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.
