Page 1 of What shall I do with my life?????

I`ve decided that I`m very bored with my job and wanna do something new and exciting!But, I can`t decide what. I quite like the idea of going back to college or university, but haven`t got a clue what I fancy doing and was wondering if you lot could give me any ideas.

I like working with people, being busy, technology, reading, languages, travel, cooking, some sports, art and design, music and I`m quite interested in other cultures and religions. (just to narrow it down a bit ;))

If anyone fancies making any suggestions (preferrably with vague hints about what direction to head in training wise or how to get into whatever they`ve suggested), it`d be really, really appreciated. :)

well, sounds as if you need a vocation rather than a `job`. However, in the meantime, I suggest you take up a musical instrument of some sort. If you play one already, take up another. At the very worst, it will keep you occupied while you wile (pun intended) away the hours in the job you`re bored with. At the very best it will introduce you to new people who can point you in the direction of jobs you may actually want to do.

I have been fortunate enough to have met people purely through music, who have pointed me towards jobs in professional playing (strangely enough), the army, teaching, and software testing.

or..become a nurse. Fluff - the Florence Nightingale of the forums. I`m sure we could find someone who needs their codpiece surgically removed :p

Funny you should say that, I play the piano (or keyboard as the piano won`t fit in my flat & would annoy the neghbours too much), but can`t find any decent music groups or lessons in the area...tis very annoying...thanks for the advice though!

Just thinking of posting similar question myself - kinda freaky to see you already posted :). ---- I was thinking down the police or teaching route myself?!?! Prostitution - Seems to be alot of easy money there :)

BSc in Forensic Computing sounds cool to me -if you thinking of a degree?

Fluff, you live in Eastbourne don`t you?

I`m sure I know at least one very, very fine flute player around there. (and plenty of muso pals in East Sussex who may be able to help)

Yeah I do...I know there are lots of good musicians in the area, but I haven`t been playing for very long and should definitly be considered a beginner. I just can`t seem to find any groups that seem to be suitable, or maybe I`m just looking in the wrong places.

the thing about `good musicians` is that even they ahd to start somewhere, and many people who play professionally also teach. And this means being quite happy to teach beginners. Anyway, let me know if you want to find out what`s available and I`ll get me feelers out and let you know via the Reviewer messaging system :-)

I was thinking of police because of all the perks you get. Seems like a kushdi & exciting job. Don't fancy being stuck in a 9-5 job all my life. And also I think it would be rewarding to help people. I think the good things seem to out weigh the shift work and other negatives.

I recently found out that my local brothel advertises their jobs in the local job centre under receptionists lmao - fancy going for an interview as a receptionist and finding out you had to sleep with random people crazy :).
