Washer sticking on rinse

flyingmonkey (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 12th July 2006, 21:59

Hi

We have a 6 year old Whirlpool washer that sometimes sticks on the `B` rinse cycle. Could this be happening just because it is sometimes overloaded?

When I manually jog it on to the next cycle it carries on fine.

Thanks

Nick

6 years old? Time for a new one, methinks. Either that or there`s crap behind the dial

might be a problem with the pump not getting the water out quickly enough - easy and cheap to fix.

do u have a rinse hold button is is this part of that rinse cycle?

I ask as an engineer pointed it out to me when I had called him out for the same problem when I had my first flat.... and yes I did feel so small and daft lol but he was v sweet about it.

We have a rinse hold button but it wasn`t pressed in - I will double check.

How do I check / fix the pump?

Six years isn`t that old for a washer is it?

Cheers

Nick

It is actually. They, essentially, engineer white goods like that to last to their warranty period. Remember how, back in the day, you bought something and it lasted forever? That has been engineered out.

My old CDT teacher used to work for Hotpoint and it was one of two things he used to talk about. The other being able to compare everything in the world of CDT to Sunderland FC.
