Page 1 of Opinions wanted on what I can do!!!!

I work in a high street store.
3 months ago one of our `specialists` moved to another store leaving a vacancy.
Everyone at our store was told the position was already taken and we were waiting for the replacement to arrive.

This week the replacement arrived.
It seems the job hadn`t been taken and was recently advertised in every other branch except ours.
The replacement used to work at our store but left last year.
She found out about the job from another Manager` who is very very very friendly with her.
He put a few good words in for her and she got the job.
She knows nothing what so ever about the job and will have to be trained up, by us(I don`t think so!!!!).
Other people in our store who are more qualified were not even given the opportunity to apply for this job, as we were told it was already taken.

The manager knows how everyone feels but doesn`t give a dam.

So what, if anything, can we do?

Lots of us would have applied for the job had we been told it was open to application.

You could go to a higher authority than your manager and let them know that you are all unhappy that you were a) not given the chance to apply for a position which could further your own careers b) that you were lied to by your manager with regard to the vacancy c) (if applicable) you could say that you are also unhappy at your manager`s lack of concern / willingness to listen and commuinicate with his staff

Problem is going to be if nothing wrong has happened (which I wouldnt know if it has) then you just risk ruffling the wrong people`s feathers.

Personally I dont think it should be like that, if you have a greivance you should be able to air it without fear of future ramifications, unfortunately in this day and age it seems that you open your mouth and speak the truth and all you get is someone waiting to shaft you at the firsty possible opportunity.

It may well be easier to say nothing and wait for the newby to mess up and get fired

As long as she is prepared to get on her knees or, get her boobs out,(this is fact from when she last worked here with the guy who put a good word in for her) then she wont get fired.
