Cat Repellant ... Any permanent suggestions for front garden??

Harry_Potter (Competent) posted this on Monday, 21st August 2006, 10:36

Hi All,

There`s a cat in my street that keeps soiling my garden (which is work in progress). I`ve laid new topsoil and plant beds and the cat keeps digging and leaving its mess on daily basis.

Can anyone suggest a tried and tested device/method that will scare off a cat. Whatever people suggest, could they also let me know the best price/place they found the device?

Thanks again

Chris :/

Had the same problem with my Mum`s cat. This was in Australia so I don`t know if you can get it here.
Stuff valled "Scataddle" or something like that. You can get it from pet shops, gardening centres and maybe hardware stores.
You have to clean up the mess and destroy (with water) any scent as the cat has now made that place its territory.
Scataddle or its equivalent has to be applied often and wean the stupid cat away from the area. takes weeks.
Good luck.
if you can`t get Scataddle here, Google for something.
The stuff works.

not as mad as it might seem... if you have a zoo locally speak to the big cat keeper, they must just give you some big cat `waste`... any moggy will run a mile when they smell the scent of a much bigger cat!

First of all I am a cat lover and have 2 cats of my own.

The best idea is to get the stalk of a rose bush or similar and cut it up into small lengths and scatter it over the soil.

Small thorns is not the best thing to walk on or dig in. The cat should get the message rather quickly and move on to someone elses garden :o

Hope this helps
