Had my car broken into...

flyingmonkey (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 3rd September 2006, 21:42

Hi all

Just moved to a nicer area, bigger house, drive and garage with a separate garage and drive over the road.

Went out at lunchtime to a friend`s house in the Civic and left my Fiesta parked in front of the garage over the road.

Came home at 7ish to find the passenger window smashed and the stereo gone.

I am really annoyed; I used to have to park my car streets away from where we lived because the parking was so bad. I now get my own land to park on and it gets broken into. My mate reckons that Ford stereos are getting nicked because the chip inside them is used to hack Sky boxes, so even if I had taken the little middle part out it wouldn`t have made any difference. I still feel like there is more I could have done; maybe parked it differently and taken the stereo insert out.

We have just had a house alarm fitted and we have a security light but we are now going to have to start using the garage over the road (which is very ramshackle, but at least it has an alarm) and putting my car in the drive…unless I can fix the doors to the garage attached to the house. I am also thinking about getting a light over the road and an infra red camera. I won`t put the break in through the insurance as I don`t want to lose my no claims.

You never know, the police may find some prints but I doubt it :(

Just annoys me that we work hard for stuff but we can't just enjoy it.

Nick

Bad news....lots of scumbags everywhere unfortunately.

When my car was vandalised a few weeks back I asked the guy on the phone (police reporting line) if it would be fingerprinted.
His reply was no, because it`s in the open air and it`s a waste of time!!

So, if you want to commit a crime, just do it outside!

why take life so seriously..its not like you are going to make it out alive

It`s getting finger printed because they went through the glove box and there were CD cases in there. Not holding out any hope though.

The fact that we are now going to have to spend money and change the way we do things just because of some pikey little toerags is one of the more annoying things.

Makes me wonder how hard they even look into these things sometimes. Completely understand your annoyance at such a thing. You never know and they may get a fingerprint hit. All the best!

Don`t get your hopes up. Couple of years ago my hubby`s van was nicked from outside our house. Turned up a couple of days later in a nearby village, tools all gone from the back. (About £1500 worth)

Fingerprinting turned up a known criminal, and we thought we were going to see justice done and receive some compensation.

Got zilch. Why? Because our offence got taken into consideration when he got done for something else. That`s justice for you!

We`ve also had a car nicked from outside our house as well, and got it back, but they never caught the people who did that.

We live in a beautiful quiet village in Kent. You wouldn`t credit it, would you? >:(

Some say I`m from Biddenden. Some say my name`s Sue. Some say I`m really Marge on a mission.

Couple of weeks ago went out to find that both my car and my partners had been broken into! They had broken a window on mine and nicked the stereo and my cd wallet, on hers (a punto) they had knocked the lock out of the door and taken the stereo and a load of CDs. I just paid the £200 for the new glass and £100 for a new stereo on mine, but on hers cos it was the lock etc went into the garage to have all new locks and a new stereo fitted, away for a week and a claim on the insurance.
You just wonder how they justify taking them, they cant get more than £20 for them, and the agro and hassle they cause... Makes me really worry about society, as there doesn`t seem to any inclination to change.
