Get a bottle of fabric freshener ( febreeze or similar ) and spray it over the seat daily for a few days.

Wierdly enough we were sat in Casualty the other night for 5 hours bored to death reading those womens magazines you only ever find in doctors surgerys.

There was an artical about an old ladies incontinent cat asking the same question.

The answer was, biological washing poweder, aparantly the enzymes are the only thing that will get rid of the smell.

All the best

Gerald.

Not much use for car seats, but . . .

we had a problem with a stray coming into the house and spraying all over the place. To make matters worse, our own cats then kept trying to cover it with their own smell. The missus picked up a leaflet from the `Cats Protection League` about spraying and it said that biological powder is the best thing to get rid of the smell. However, there is an oily deposit left behind which we can`t smell but other cats can and they will try to cover it up with their own. To get rid of the oily deposit you need to wipe it over with surgical spirits as well.

Like I said, not strictly relevant to your problem, but others may be interested ;)

See if you can get the seat out of the car, or at least the fabric bit and get some nappisan - used for taking stinky poo out of babies nappies - which should kill the bacteria. Worked with kiddy puke in my car.

Thanks for all your help guys, i`ll give the washing powder a go as it`s to the only thing i have to hand, if that doesn`t work then i`ll get my mate to pay for a valet, although i`d prefer to make the cat pay, f***ing hate cats anyway >:(
