Heard a rumour that windows XP does not work with NTL , anybody know?
Thanks...
The way I understand it is that the dont support it, not that it does not work.
IE if you have a problem, there TS staff will not offer support on it. but that should change once they have had a chance to train the staff on XP.
I use XP and NTL cable modem, no proplems whatsoever,
we even have it networked so 3 of us share the connection, allowing all of us to be online/play games all at once, and never suffered problems.
Hope this helps,
It`s true that NTL don`t support XP or shared PC`s using one cable modem,
but if you need any help, yell.
RE: NTL users and WINDOWS XP
At the end of the day its Windows isnt it. And it uses tcp/ip like any other Windows O/S. Its only because NTL dont understand XP yet
It just puts up a message saying it won`t eccept a conection for XP beacuse it is NT based...well what does that mean?
I`m about to go to Windows 2000, is this going to cause a problem with my ntl?
RE: NTL users and WINDOWS XP
Ratking is the NTL broadband service any good? I`ve been thinking about upgrading from the normal NTL 56K service.
Cheers.
NTL broad Band rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
although 128kb upload is crap.
I`m thinking of going for this - how much you paying, Dukemeister ?
I see that they`re bundling TV, telephone and broadband together now under NTL Home. How much is it ?
And do you need to get the modem upfront first, yes ?
Hi all,
NTL is sweet, 512k download, 128k upload,
sure, 128 sucks a bit, but hey, how much uploading do most of you do??
Service seems very reliable, did go down for 2 hours the other week, but a quick (yeah right, more like 75 min free call to NTL service line) resolved the problem, it was their server being upgraded,
If it`s down for any length of time (ie. more than a day) (only ever happened once) they will refund some of the monthly cost,
The modem can be bought or loaned, it was £5 per month for loan or £150 to buy, I`ve gone for loan, so I can upgrade if needed, cost per month is £20 flat rate, doesn`t use the phone, so that`s nice and free all the time, just have to have phone and basic tv package from NTL, cost about £10 per month, so about the same as BT for the phone, if you get the option of USB or ethernet modem, I`d say go for ethernet, but you must have a spare network card in your machine. Set-up is quick and easy, Any further questions, let me know, Regards, Ratking
