No Entry? Pah! That`s for cissies...

We`ve got a set of these bollards in our town, and as far as I know, there`s only been 2 incidents of this type, but it`s always nice to see Darwin`s finest at play

It`s a bit quick, but check the passenger`s side of the windscreen of the van at the end

The guy in the people carrier was just plain stupid trying it that with a baby in the car. He thoroughly deserved the airbag in the face! (got him good too) :D

Observe roadsigns and you should be alright.

One of The incidents I referred to happened not long after the bollards had been installed. An elderly woman followed a bus through the gap, and the single bollard came up as she was over it, cracking her engine block and giving her rather nasty whiplash. She was a stranger to the area, so obviously wasn`t as aware of the bollard as the locals were. However, on the approach to the bollard (from both ends) there`s at least 5 signs of varying size & design warning that only authorised vehicles can go through, as well as some little red & green lights either side.

Given the amount of warning given if you do get caught, chances are the council could have you done for driving without due care & attention...

I had a mate that was stopped for speeding, 40 ish in a 30, he said to the policeman "Sorry, I didn`t see the sign". So the policeman charged him with driving without due care and attention too. :D

Good bollards, but just shows you the engery when something is stopped in a really short distance. It`s not funny what happens to them and it`s just luck that there hasn`t been a more serious injury to one of the drivers/ his passengers or pedestrians.

Hehe people used to do similar when I was at college with the pay on exit car park. If you got close enough to the car in front, you could get two out at once. I think they gave up on charging in the end after a few cars got whacked with the barrier. They also used to try and drive over the one way entrance spikes too. Things people will do to save 20p. :D

We also had a car wedge itself neatly between two concrete bollards trying to take a shortcut onto the main road. :D Wonder if I still have the pic of it surrounded by a few police cars? The driver was long gone before anyone noticed the car.

I think he missed the rising bollard and ploughed into one of the ones at the side. He`d been at the Working men`s club all morning and his boy wasn`t wearing a seatbelt. Nasty
