£32,000 To Invest In ............ ?

Batavia (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 26th October 2006, 08:54

In a few months time I shall be getting £32,000 or thereabouts. Not a lot, I know, but the most amount I have ever had.
I want to invest it, short term.
I am pondering at the moment (a) small property in Bulgaria and (b) Premium Bonds for the full amount.
Property in Bulgaria would mean I would be then one of the people I don`t much like, a property speculator/investor.
Now I would, of course, love to just give it all away to you lot. Of course. Goes without saying. But.........
I want to do something with it, something to "secure my future" (hate that) in some way.
Any ideas?

We`ve a similar amount frittering away in an Alliance and Leicester account.
It was convenient at the time, but the returns are woeful.
This year, after tax,we got something like £1100 back in interest, which is pish. >:(
Our neighbour is head of financial planning for the biggest chain of solicitors/estate agents in Aberdeen.
When I told him about this,he laughed out loud.
No malice, just laughing at the returns.
He explained that,on a 1 to 10 scale,we`re on about 2.
Next to no risk, but crap returns.
He reckons he can thrash the hell out of the poxy £1100 interest.
We`re going to see him soon, with a view to splitting the money into various accounts.
Maybe £5K in a high risk,but potentially high return,thing.
Maybe another £10K into a medium risk account etc.etc.

I know where he lives,so if he f***s it up,I`ll burn his house down... ;)

Bottom line is,go see a financial advisor. :D

I`ve heard Romania is the place to be - we`ve sent one of our boys over there this week to check the country out. They`ve got a big resort on the Black Sea that set to rival the Costas.

As you hate where you are why not use the money to move. There may be no return but your life will be better.
