how to find a cheap childrens book illustrator?
I`ve got a crazy notion in my head to write a childrens book based on some characters my little boy thought up, i`ve never done anything like this before, so have no idea where to start, writing it will be the easy part, but as it`s going to be aimed at pretty young children so they`ll be lots of illustrations (every other page) I have absolutely no artistic talent, so i`m hoping to find someone who does.
I can`t afford to pay much as the book will primarily be for our own enjoyment but obviously if a publisher shows an interest that`d be brilliant.
Is there anyway i can find artists who would be willing to do some work at below market rates? Maybe for a share of any profits? Or students who want the experience?
Does anyone know of any such websites where i could post my request without it sticking out like a sore thumb and offending those who would expect professional levels of pay?
Thanks for any help.

Or if he`s old enough to do his own drawings the result could be really really cute and would be a special record of his young creativity.

Did you know that the Ladybird book of TV (or some such) was pre-requisite reading before embarking on C&G 224 Part II TV Servicing, as sections of it it laid down the fundementals of the theory far better than any book with smaller writing & 100x the page count.
I took C&G 224 & took the course\passed the year after you could no longer take TV servicing & Industrial Equipment exams together (the course had up until then only only divergent lecture & after only had two common subjects).
I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.
Seeking to surpass yesterdays target of unprecedented level of unverifable productivity.

Yeah, that`s a good idea that i had considered, but he`s got various learning difficulties and drawing isn`t really his strong point.
I do like the childish hand drawn look though, maybe i ought to post on a childrens forum asking for submissions.
