Page 1 of Ebay - Feedback 2.0 - seems better?...

So ebay are introducing a newer version of feedback - as well as the current one I believe.

As eBay continues to grow, it is important that we continue to evolve the Feedback system to ensure it remains a credible measure of trust, so we have been working on a new project to enhance our current system. Feedback 2.0 adds a new dimension to eBay's feedback system, allowing buyers to rate transactions based on item description, communication, delivery time, and postage & packaging charges.

Feedback 2.0 will add these new features:

Detailed Seller Ratings - In addition to the current positive, negative or neutral comment, buyers rate the sellers on these specific transaction aspects based on a 1 to 5 scale, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest rating. The average of all ratings is displayed on the seller's Feedback Profile page.

Display of Item Title and Price - To give buyers more information to evaluate the reputation of a seller, the transaction's item title and selling price will be displayed beneath each Feedback comment on the Feedback Profile page for 90 days. This will give buyers more context while reviewing and evaluating Feedback comments.

Feedback 2.0 will help buyers feel even more confident about a seller's reputation, while rewarding good sellers by recognising and highlighting the things they do to ensure customer satisfaction.

Given that the seller doesn`t see the ratings you give, hopefully this should reduce the occurrences of sellers `blackmailing` you into leaving +ve feedback even though you paid straight away but weren`t too happy with their (slow) service.
I particularly hate it when I buy something `In UK` - next day delivery etc., pay instantly but wait a week or more for delivery. >:(

It seems like a good idea to me. The `leave feedback` page looks like it is much better than the current system, and I particularly like the idea of putting the item details right there on the feedback page (because I`m lazy and don`t like clicking through several links to check out the sort of things that the ebayer has been trading).
My wife has started her own ebay shop and is doing rather nicely at the mo` (off to a trade fair on Friday, yippee!), so I`ll get her opinion tomorrow (she`s gone to bed now).

People are still going to go demented if they get given anything less than a 5.

...I`ve often thought eBay should come up with "more valuable" feedback system... ie. at the moment, a pos or neg has exactly the same meaning if it was £5000 item - or a 50p one...

It`s about time they updated the feedback system, as it is now crucial to check a seller`s feedback before dealing with them. The current system is SO open to abuse, and a simple pos or neg just isn`t enough to get a real idea of what they are like to deal with.

I welcome this, although it will probably need updating again in a couple of years, judging by eBay`s current growth rate!

well, that would be my buyers account f***ed. Its just loads of tuppenny hapenny crap, like laser pointers and low value PC components. My profile looks like a car boot shopping list, just loads of items under a fiver.

Thinking about it, it does look like a typical feedback grind account.

Well I asked my wife this morning and she said she`d already read up all about it and thinks it sounds like a good improvement.
Her bugbear is the people who don`t bother leaving feedback at all. If they neg you at least you know why (usually), but if there`s no feedback it suggests they`re happy with the item, so why not let others know?

Talking of eBay... I was really pleased recently - I noticed my feedback % had gone back up to 100%! It had been 99.9% for ages due to an early(ish) negative - but all the recent positives must have overwhelmed it, lol. Sweet. :)

I tell you one thing I hate - sellers that neg you if you neg them. Never mind the fact that you had to wait x number of weeks for something that should have arrived next day, and they never replied to emails etc. They see it as tit for tat, which just isn`t right. Then they blackmail you into mutually withdrawing feedback to clean up both ratings.

I always check for mutually withdrawn feedback and take that as negative when checking someone out. >:(

Yeah... I don`t like leaving negative feedback for someone that hasn`t already left feedback - in case they neg you back out of spite (even when they know they were in the wrong). I`ve recently sold a batch of things - and had 2 people not pay... they both had 0 feedback though, so it`s not worth leaving them negative feedback, in case they do the same (a neg would mean nothing to them...). :/
