My girlfriend is convinced that i hate Harry Potter books (i have read the first one and thought it was ok), and no matter how many times i try to explain she doesn`t seem to want to listen.

I don`t hate Harry Potter books, but i do detest the hype.

So you wont read/watch something if it has been hyped up?
All those movie trailers must be wasted on you!

You misunderstand. I didn`t say i hate "hype" in general. If it is deserved, i don`t mind.

In this instance though i don`t feel it is. Harry Potter books are ok. If i had read them when i was younger i`m sure i`d rave about them (in much the same way the the books of Roald Dahl still hold a special place in my heart).

But (based on the first book alone) i don`t see what`s so special about them.

I think she should of waited till the sixth movie was released and then published the book.

I was working, dammit!!!

I actually predicted this date just after the title was announced, but like the tool I am, i didn`t put a bloody bet on.

(it`s Gary Jules/Darkness all over again)

Apparently, to celebrate finishing the book 3 weeks ago, JK vandalised a hotel room in a fit of joyous revelry.

Well, she wrote "JK Rowling finished harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows in this room.." on a marble bust.

Rock, and indeed, roll.

I give you.. The covers...

US version - so bland and uninspired. Something tell sme Mary Grandpre wasn`t given any plot details

The UK children`s version. Messy, but colourful

The UK adult`s version, which in itself answers a theory long held by many fans.

The US version is 784 pages, and the UK 608, but this is purely because the yanks need a bigger font and lots of pictures to help them understand what`s happening...
