Hitting the frets with the lefthand hard enough to,err,fret them :D is used in slap bass.
Or it is the way I do it...
Christ knows if I`m doing it right or not.
If it sounds right,it`s right.
As a pretty good bass player I know says "they`re not mistakes,they`re jazz"

There are millions of people like him in the world.
Talented musicians that never get a break,aren`t in the right place at the right time or simply don`t want the fame.
My MD`s cousin was in Thin Lizzy,it drove him daft.
He froze on stage in Japan and that was him done.
He`s a social worker/psychologist in the states now.

I also know a bloke who is as good a bassplayer as you`ll see,anywhere in the world.
He simply prefers the effortless pub band scene.
He tells me I`m good enough to get some gigs,but I cannot be bothered.
Working all day then going out all night would go down like a lead balloon.
I`m quite happy being a bass legend in my own spare room.

It annoys the hell out of me too,watching blokes who are worse than most getting paid millions.
Christ,I tell you.
If there`s an easier gig on earth than U2`s bass player,I`d like to see it... :/
