Smiler you do have a very good point about
all the complaints that are posted if people
insist on purchasing these cheap players, they
are going to struggle with some of the newer software
that is starting to be released.
But your argument on region 1 is not valid OK
R 2 is getting a lot better with the release dates
but you only have to look at the amount of discs
available in the US to see we have a long way to go
before you can make a fair comparison.
One other little complaint I have a Pioneer 717 and
the layer change is very noticable so I find it hard to
believe you can`t see yours.
Remember that it isn`t just cheap machines that can be caught out by new software. Wasn`t one of the machines that tripped up over the Matrix an £800 Namagutchi machine?
Rob - OK so the layer change is maybe 2-3 seconds and I find this perfectly acceptable, it doesn`t spoil the movie experience.
Namagutchi? Dodgy chinese over priced crap in that case :)
One thing about the cheapy Wharfedale: no layer change has ever been spotted....

I`d have to see the wharfdale to believe it.
I also think the other player mentioned was
a Nakamichi.
Heh - Reviewer has one. And no layer changes have ever been spotted. This has also been reported by other Wharfy owners in the newsgroup.
