Page 1 of Phew! Everything is ok!! The wife & I are so relieved....!!

Sorry for not posting any earlier but my parents have just visited....

Basically I am here to say that the scan showed that we are to have a healthy baby! :) The blood test proved to be totally wrong and there is no visible proof that the baby is unhealthy.

We had the appointment at 2.40pm today. As we got called into the room I could see my wife shaking like a leaf. I was trying hard to hold everything together also. My wife was told to lie down and the mid-wife put that gel-type-thing onto her tummy and started looking for the baby. My heart was in my mouth at this point and the missus was close to tears. After what seamed like an hour - probably 1 and a half minutes in reality - the mid-wife said those words we so wanted to hear...`Well , everything seams to be ok!` Relief is an understatement! She scanned some more and - although she couldn`t get a proper look at the spine as the baby refused to get of they`re back - she focused on the head. She said that the head and brain looks fine and if they`re was any sign of spina bifida it would show up there! I could also see the baby scratch they`re head and even waved to us!! Probably wasn`t but it looked like it was....!

Now , we could have cornered the mid-wife and told us why the blood test showed signs of spina bifida but we are just so very , very grateful that the baby is fine. These people are just doing they`re job and going through every precaution and possibility so we accept that. Coincidently this was our second baby scan and we can see the baby is so much bigger than the first one! I even saw him/her kicking around and refusing to stop moving so that put my mind at ease just that bit more.

Also , can I just thank every single person on here who sent me good luck messages , sound advice and prayers as I am totally grateful for your posts. With regards to my mate passing away that was a shock but were planning to meet up for a drink and honour his memory. The fact that I`ll be with other friends to console each other is very comforting. And with regards to my tooth operation....Pah! That pales into insignificance now what with other bad news.

Once again , thanks! You have all been a great comfort to me in these dark few days. I will never , ever forget your kindness. :)

Good news!
I didn`t post in your other thread, because I didn`t know what to say. I felt awful for you, but didn`t feel I could say that in any way that didn`t seem to just echo others` comments (although that`s probably not so bad really).
However, now I can certainly say congratulations - you`ve got the nappies to look forward to now!

Congratulations - was thinking about you both in the office this afternoon, and I`m so pleased evrything turned out OK with the baby!
