It just gets worse - thieving c***s!

here

Another totally unjustified price rise, families now consistently paying over £100 a month to have a bit of warmth and light. Will be very interesting to see their annual report due shortly.

Havnt clicked the link but assuming your talking about the British gas price rise how is it unjustified?

Wholesale energy prices are at record highs aren`t they?

We are with BG, God knows why, but we won`t be after tomorrow. Yes I know they will all put up their prices but that`s all we can do. God bless Mrs Thatcher.... not

I`m biased, because I work for them, but I strongly recommend anyone to switch to Scottish & Southern. Customer service is excellent, and they are always the last to raise their prices.

Also, anyone thinking of switching to a fixed rate plan, read the small print first. A lot of them have cancellation fees, unit costs can be a lot higher than a standard rate plan too.

All energy companies will be raising their prices over the next few weeks, but 35% seems excessive (though I`ll eat my words if SSE`s increase is bigger).

Just out of interest, how much on average do people spend per month on the gas & electric? (I know we had a thread a while ago on this, but just interested to see the difference since then).

My wife & I reckon we spend approx £60-£70 per month for both (direct debits + top up payments where necessary included).
But then we`re both at work most of the day (7:30am to 7:00pm) so all that`s running is the usual fridge-freezer etc. for that period.

We don`t heat much hot water (10 mins per day) since we both shower using the electric shower, and our house is pretty well insulated so even in the winter the heating isn`t used a huge amount.

All light bulbs (except the kitchen spotlights - but don`t get me started on those! >:( ) are the low wattage/energy efficient types.
