But not for a person.
Kodak are to cease production of Kodachrome.

A film whose tone and colour have had a huge influence (whether you noticed it or not) on the way you have seen the world for the last 74 years

Take a look

Slideshow towards the end of the article.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Released 43 years after Kodachrome.
I think Kodak had a bit of a head start.

Fujichrome was the young upstart and always seen as more vibrant and punchy. Barely use Kodachrome as far as I can remember.

That`s sad. Yes, I always used Kodachrome back when I had 35 mm cameras.

Guess what song is now stuck in my head. Damn you, Paul Simon! :D

Hi Sue Brown,

Yes the songs stuck in my head now too! :)

This song was a big hitin the USA in 1973 but not over here. Do you know why??? Because the BBC wouldnt play it because of the product name so we got the B-Side insted although that wasnt a bad song at all. It was of course "Take Me To The Mardi Gras"!!!

They must have played it a fair bit on other stations as I don`t remember any ban and certainly heard it a lot around the time.

If any one is Photoshop savvy and really misses Kodachrome, Velvia or any other film these guys have it pretty well nailed.
It ain`t cheap but how much did we all shell out on film over the years.
Haven`t invested myself, funds being what they are these days ie: missing.

A bit of searching will bring up free actions or how to listings, I think I`ve even got some filed away on some tutorials somewhere.

I`m amazed production was going on for so long, must have just been enthusiasts (reminds me, need to sell my Pentax ME Super on ebay whilst its still worth something) whittling down stocks.

I know so many people now with digital SLRs, none of them romance about the hassles of loading the film, sending it off for development, forking out £6 per 36 roll for development (on top of the actual film itself) when it was close to its cheapest (only when using a decent developer, not Boots who always ruined it), and so on.

I don`t miss film at all.

I`m sure you can get a digital back to replace the film so you use your existing optics but replace the film with a CCD storage thingy. It would be shame to sell a camera you like and spent money on when you don`t need to, if you can just upgrade?
